Mixed Media Tutorial: 4 Step Gelli Plate Intro

motionmailapp.com

I'm super excited to share with you some tutorials using one of my favorite tools, the Gelli Plate. I use it a lot and I can't believe I haven't shared it with you yet. It is definitely in my top ten tools for mixed media art. I have the 6"x6" one, but really want all of them, there is just so much you can do with both the little ones and the larger ones. I also think the circle one is really cool too.
4 step tutorial for creating a fun and simple background using a Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate and journal cards

Today I'm going to show how I prep my papers and then a base print with the Gelli Plate. This is going to be a series because there is just so much you can do with it. Have I told you how much I love this tool?!

Art Journal Bible Tutorial: The Importance of Journaling

Well, I've been sick and in bed most of this week or out of the house for appts or homeschool coop. I'm not really even sick sick, just allergies have killed me this year. This means, I haven't had much time for getting painty messy or even putting together a tutorial, but I wanted to share they importance of still being in the word and journaling even when you're in bed with a frog in your throat.
My kids think it's funny that I have no voice and the little one is totally confused thinking I really actually have a frog in my throat, LOL. I could feel it coming on Sunday night, and Monday morning it hit me hard... but I really wanted to have something to go along with what I had shared in my feature on Shanna's blog.

October 2014 - Week 40 in my pocket scrapbook album and some changes to the blog...

Phew!!! That's a really long title, LOL! I've been doing a lot of thinking about the blog and my creative team responsibilities and our homeschool routine and decided to make some changes to the routine on the blog.

Since the beginning, I've been posting my weekly pocket pages on Mondays, workflow tutorials on Wednesdays and mixed media tutorials on Fridays and then recently added in the art journal Bible tutorials on Thursdays.

The problem with sharing my pages on Mondays is that the sale is that I'm usually using new releases for my creative team requirements at The Lilypad, but the sale is over. So, I will now be moving them to Fridays. I'm hoping that if you're inspired by my pages and want that product, you'll be able to get them while they are on sale instead of afterwards.

What does that mean for the mixed media tutorials? Well, I'm just going to switch them to Mondays. These tutorials were a much bigger hit than I anticipated and I find that with our homeschool schedule it's difficult for me to get photos and projects done during the week.

Have I told you yet that homeschooling this year is kicking my butt? I still love it, it's just taking a lot more time and energy and I need to focus on them during the week and writing/photography during the weekends. Thankfully, I have a super supportive husband who knows how much this blog means to me, and I couldn't do this without him.

So, we've skipped week 39, which is actually done... but I wanted to share Week 40 with you while the digital supplies are on sale at The Lilypad. I'm sooooo in LOVE with the Mixed Media Monthly kits and add-ons and couldn't wait to use them.

Speaking of The Lilypad, this was the week that I went with some friends to Kansas to hang out and scrapbook... we just all happen to know each other from The Lilypad, so I couldn't resist using the awesome kits for this page. Hubby and the kiddos went to Michigan and had a blast!

You all know how much I love to doodle on my pages and journal cards. Today I'm going to show you how to make your Silhouette do the doodling for you! Workflow Wednesday: Silhouette Software Introduction and Freebies

I'm excited to start a new part of this workflow series and this month I will be sharing tutorials for using the Silhouette die cutting machine and software. I love this machine, it can do so much and has saved me a lot of time and sore fingers the past 1-1/2 years.

It's definitely a luxury but it's been an investment I really don't regret even a tiny bit. I'm really looking forward to sharing a few simple tutorials on how I use my Silhouette Portrait in my weekly pocket scrapbook album.
