I'm back today with the post that I meant to finish yesterday. Have you ever gone through a project and hated it so you start over and then hate it and start over again? You are not going to believe how many personalities this page has gone through. It definitely fits the prompts for this week's Documented Life Project.





Well, I didn't stop for two days... and finally had enough, LOL! I do love the outcome and learned a lot about myself and my style. I really didn't think I had a style, but I apparently do and when something isn't "me" I can try and try, but I won't be happy with the outcome. 

Do you ever have one of those days were things are going really well and you're liking what you see... and then BAM!!! You have one bad thing happen and you try really hard to fix it and it just keeps getting worse no matter what you do? Yeah, that happened to me with this page! 

I had fun yesterday working on catching up on my The Documented Life Project Art Journal and the Week 4 prompts were just too perfect for journaling about Truth Scrap.



Last year, I used Wednesdays as a workflow day for creating pocket pages. While I loved writing those tutorials and getting all the information together, I am not doing pocket pages on a weekly basis anymore and have been more focused on art worship and mixed media art journaling. 

However, I still have Workflow Wednesday on my blog calendar, and I will instead be sharing my process for creating my mixed media Art Worship pages rather than the pocket pages approach. This is where my heart is right now, teaching and inspiring with my #ARTWORSHIP.

So, let's walk through this page with me, a page about my experience with Truth Scrap using the prompts from The Documented Life Project. For Week 4, the art challenge was "writing" and the journal prompt was "words with friends". Could this be more perfect for journaling about Truth Scrap?!?!?!

I wanted to catch up on some projects this weekend. Sometimes we just have to go really simple when we have so much going on and find ourselves falling behind. I definitely went super simple with this one and it totally didn't turn out how I pictured it.



The art prompt for The Documented Life Project for Week Three was: color wheel. The journaling prompt was a Georgia O'Keefe quote but the rainbow reminded me of God's promise to Noah and it was so perfect for all my nervousness about Truth Scrap, my very first LIVE event.

I decided to be a little brave today and use some bold colors. Bold bright colors bring me JOY and that's my One Little Word, right?! Ever since I got the email from Art to the 5th about the new week's prompts for the Documented Life Project, it's been on my mind. I thought the quote was just perfect for some bright wake up of color.

It's another week that I'm totally in LOVE with the prompts and couldn't wait to get to creating and playing! Art Challenge: Gesso | Journal Prompt: "The beginning is always today" -Mary Shelley

I have decided to try and participate in the Documented Life Project again this year and am really excited to be working in the Dylusions Art Journal which is my favorite! As much as I liked the planner last year, I definitely prefer the larger format of the journal.

I'm also totally in love with their prompts and themes this year. Hopefully, this will help me to actually complete a full art journal this year. This week's theme was Goals and I thought it was perfect for doing a page on my One Little Word this year. That's my biggest goal this year is to "choose JOY".

I am loving being back in my planner again and doing the weekly prompts that I've been getting from The Documented Life Project. This week the prompt was: splatters and drips! YUM!!! I love to splatter and drip paints and inks.

This week we were prompted to draw or use a feather on our page...

I've kinda fallen in LOVE with this creation. It's funny that I love it so much because I used to hate using hearts in my craft and art projects. Now, I see hearts in nature and I just can't resist using them! The prompt for the week was to use white pens. I went crazy and had tons of fun while listening to the worship team rehearse and waiting for my kids who were at AWANAS. I think I've become a white pen addict!


The main heart on the bottom is a leaf I found in the parking lot last Monday after leaving ballet rehearsal. Later in the week God gave me these words to say and I knew I had to write it down in the journal, "If you focus on only the art, you will miss his HEart!" 

Those words have become my new motto when doing my #artworship in my Bible. I don't ever want to get to a place that I'm just focusing on the art and only thinking of myself. I want to be sure I truly am spending time with HIM and focusing on HIM and letting the HOLY SPIRIT move in me to create. I love how God does that, put words in my mouth.


I used my favorite white journaling pens and a Sharpie Poster Paint Pen for all the doodling.

With all the Journal Bible #artworship going on lately, I've been working in my Documented Life Project Planner too. This week's prompt was "Black and White". I found this journaling card in my stash and it totally reminded me of the little video we had between the worship and the message. I loved how everyone in the video would come back on and say, "say YES to community". I was totally inspired by this one little card and that little video to do this page. It's totally my favorite!

I'm excited to share with you a super quick tutorial on how to save your paint! I don't like to waste anything so I am diligent about saving and using as much as I can before cleaning off my mat, palette or brushes.

I can't tell you how excited I am to share this organization tool with you today. I know that sometimes I get "behind" on doing my weekly pocket pages, especially during summer break and December. We just have so much going on and we're out of our homeschool routine. We're often traveling a lot too so I need something to keep track of our activities and funny quotes from the kids. 

The challenge for week 21 in the Documented Life Project was to add embroidery or embroidery floss... or thread. 

THE DOCUMENTED LIFE - WEEK 21

Actually this page ended up in Week 20 of my Moleskine Planner. The mood hit me just right and I thought it was perfect for Week 21's challenge. I have lots of weeks to catch up on, and I'm totally ok with switching the weeks around a little. I'm working on them as the mood inspires me and I totally think that's how art journaling should be anyways, right?

It's been awhile since I've sat down (actually stood up) at my craft table, aka kitchen island, and worked on my Documented Life Project art journal/day planner. I wanted to share a little bit about the 2:1 conference I went to and I thought it was the perfect time to just reflect on what I learned at the conference and let my creative self play a little bit. The prompt for week 18 of the Documented Life Project was to "add an inspiring quote to guide your week"

I'm excited to share my weekly planner for the new year... I started out with a Moleskine Weekly Planner, I then went through my stash of paper/art journals and found some mixed media paper... I then cut down the pieces of paper to fit inside the planner... I packed a bag full of washi tape, the papers, and my planner for Christmas vacation... Whenever I had a bit of free time on vacation, I taped in the papers... I just ran a strip of washi on the outside and inside seams and folded them in... My dear friend Jamie came up with an idea to decorate the inside of the album with more washi tape, so I did that too. When I got home, I printed out a sheet of pretty paper by Studio Tangie, I added a sheet of clear contact paper on top and then sent it through my Silhouette Portrait to cut the tabs out. I stamped the months with Stazon ink and sent them through my Xyron to adhere them to the top... As most of you know, I like to alter my album covers... so after a coat of gesso, I went to town, using thin layers of cheap acrylic paints I had on hand...some stamps, some stencils, and some Thickers later... I added a good amount of Mod Podge to hold it all together... I'm seriously in LOVE with how this turned out and am excited to share...
