I have decided to try and participate in the Documented Life Project again this year and am really excited to be working in the Dylusions Art Journal which is my favorite! As much as I liked the planner last year, I definitely prefer the larger format of the journal.
I'm also totally in love with their prompts and themes this year. Hopefully, this will help me to actually complete a full art journal this year. This week's theme was Goals and I thought it was perfect for doing a page on my One Little Word this year. That's my biggest goal this year is to "choose JOY".
The months's theme is "the blank page and how to face it" and this week's challenge was to use book paper. I used collage pauge to glue down some old ripped up book papers. I then used paint mixed with some matte medium to make it more transparent. I then picked back up a bunch of paint with some deli paper and then stamped on some more paint with some textured foam. Lastly I added some more touches of paint.
When the background was complete, I decided to be brave and write out "choose joy" with my markers and the year in the bottom corner. I was suprised with how it came out and really happy with it. I then took a grey marker and added a shadow. I'm amazed at how much shadowing really makes it pop off the page. I will definitely be doing this more often. I'm so happy with my first page in my new art journal for the year!
