Mixed Media Pocket Scrapping Sighting!!!
Last Saturday, I was following my normal routine of uploading layouts to galleries and checking out some of my favorite blogs. I like to check The Pocket Source blog, because they have store reviews on Saturdays and I knew that Sweet Shoppe Designs was going to be reviewed. I loved reading what they had to say and then I saw THIS!!!
February and March 2014 - Week 9
Oh goodness... I can't tell you how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new BYOC at The Lilypad. The color scheme as the winner of the iDSD BYOC color scheme game we had back in early November and I LOVE all the different shades of greens in it and the pop of orange and yellow. I think this might be my most fave BYOC ever. It's such a great spring color scheme and I'm sooooo ready for Spring!!! I ended up doing three pages with it instead of squeezing it all onto 2 pages because I love it so much! Plus, the week splits between February and March so I found the three pages helped me to keep the two months separate in my album.
I apparently had a ton to say this week and did lots of journaling and doodling on my pages.
Here are the two pages for the end of February...
This first page is mostly the regular everyday moments in our house, a little bit of homeschooling, chores, playing and just plain cuteness. I know I'm a bit biased, but these three are the most beautiful kiddos I know.

February 2014 - Week 7 and a blog hop
Welcome to The Pocket Source's blog hop. We are so excited to share a little
about why we love The Pocket Source with you today and some pocket scrapbook goodness!
I'm going to share with you a few things I LOVE about this new site and community, The Pocket Source, and my pocket page from last week as well as share with you a freebie and a mini-tutorial on changing the color of my black and white brush script cards.
MY SPREAD
I can't tell you how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE the brush script trend, seriously... You're going to see a bunch of it here on my blog today. I just love it so much and I love how so many of the Lilypad designers have been so "on-trend" with it. I, of course, can't leave much white space on my pages, and like to add the messy creative stuff and had fun adding stamps, and paint splatters, and doodles, and digital paint, and blending w/ papers, and... and... and... (I could go on and on and on, like the Energizer Bunny, lol)I also went through my stickers and labels stash and used a bit of them... I really need to do that more often since my goal is to use up all that I have. I can't resist doodling around them either. <3 Then, I added some wood veneer goodies and journaled a bit. I think this might be my new favorite page!!!

THE NEW COMMUNITY
Now that I've shared my new favorite pocket page, I want to share a little bit about The Pocket Source. I'm super excited about this new community! As you know, I've fallen head over heels in LOVE with pocket scrapping the past few years and love browsing through galleries for more inspiration. I love how the galleries are set up into the different categories for types of pages, from digi to monthly kit clubs.I've been really loving the blog too... They've had great giveaways, and I'm so excited to have been one of the many blessed winners last week. I might be a wee bit biased, but I LOVE that The Lilypad was the first store to be featured on the blog and they have a great freebie sampler of cards you totally don't want to miss. As you know, my albums are full of the designs from The Lilypad, so I was super excited to see such a great and positive review for them.
I've also enjoyed chatting a bit in the forum during my spare time... but the gallery is probably where I spend most of my teeny tiny bit of free time lately. It's been so inspirational to see so many different styles represented. I've gotten tons of inspiration and ideas on how to change things up a little bit. I love how pocket scrapping still allows you to be creative, it's like a bunch of mini-layouts in 4"x6" and 3"x4" pockets.
FREEBIE
Did I mention a freebie? SQUEEEE!!! So, while I was thinking about what to share with you all, I thought I'd pull out my paint and sumi brush and get creative. I thought it was the perfect time to start thinking of our next holiday, St. Patrick's Day and make some 3x4 cards in the brush script that I love so much... I even got brave and painted a four leaf clover. Once again, I had a blast putting this together for you and I hope you enjoy them...

TUTORIAL
Wanna learn how to change the black version's color? While I LOVE the black ink on the white cards, sometimes it's fun to change the color of them and here's a quick and easy way to change it in Photoshop.1. Open your .jpg file in Photoshop
2. Change the foreground color to desired color
3. In the Layers Palette click on the "create new fill or adjustment layer" button, it's the little circle that's half black/half white at the bottom... a selection window will pop up and choose, "solid color".
This is how it will look, there will be a fill color layer in your layers palette above your card in your foreground color. A color picker window will pop up and you can change the color if you'd like.
4. Click on the blending mode drop-down menu and select "Linear Dodge (Add)" and your whites will remain white and your black ink will turn whatever color you used for the color fill.
VIOLA!!! Now you're ready to save and or print your new pocket card! In the freebie, I also included a green version of all the cards and printables, but feel free to play and use a different green or a whole other color. ENJOY!!! I can't wait to see what you've created with these and see the fun stories you've recording using them. It's such an honor and totally makes me SQUEEEEE when I see my designs being used in your memory keeping, so make sure you link me up so I can see and leave you some lovin'.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE teaching and writing tutorials, so if there is a tutorial you'd love to see from me, I would love your feedback and ideas. There is just so much fun to be had and I want to be sure to share the how-to with you, to make your projects an expression of your creativity and not just your stories. xoxoxo
