Mixed Media Tutorial: Mist Splatters... Big, BIGger, BIGGEST

Oh my goodness, I had so much fun doing this. I actually took this one outside knowing I was going to make a mess. Seriously, too much fun! I can't wait to do it again!

Supplies:

  • paper or journal cards
  • paint brush
  • mist or spray ink

I'm using Studio Calico Project Life kit, Heidi Swapp Color Shine, and a size 2 bamboo brush.

This is seriously so much fun and so easy. You're going to dip your paint brush in the mist or use the end of your spray top to your mist or spray ink. Then you just start tapping it over your cards. Easy Peasy!!! The size of the splatters depends on whether you use the end of your sprayer or the paint brush, the bigger the paint brush the bigger your spatters and drops are going to be.

BIGGEST

For BIGGEST, I loaded up my paint brush and instead of tapping the handle, I literally used my whole arm drop the ink.

Then, I tipped the cards and let the drips flow, tapping the card on the mat to make them flow and drip more.

On one of the cards that had journaling on, I went a little overboard and dripped over the journaling. To lighten it up, I took a paper towel and pressed it over the top to soak up some of the ink.

Here's a view of my finished page. I used the cards in our wedding album. We looked so different 13 years ago!!!
