Hey art worshipers, I am so happy to be back to do art in my Bible again. I started doing the She Reads Truth studies again and have been going through the current series in John. I'm totally in love with the series.
I read through it first thing in the morning. I find that if I don't wake up with Jesus, I don't feel like myself during the day. It's made me realize how much I need my Savior daily and the first thing in my day.
I will underline and highlight key verses and jot down any notes I want to remember for later in the day when I have time to do a little art worship. I am having a great time art worshiping in my Bible.
OK, so let me walk you through my process for these pages...
JOHN 1
It was January 1st and I can't think of any other chapter so perfect for the new year. Seriously, I think that's why I need to do my study first thing in the morning. It was the perfect reminder that because of HIM everything is made new... not just today, but every single day! AMEN!!!So, I instantly thought of adding a starburst. I grabbed my Heidi Swapp stencil and the peach and mustard spray inks and sprayed the peach in the center and then mustard toward the outer edges. I grabbed my stamps and knew I wanted "NEW BEGINNING" to stand out so I stamp that in a larger alphabet stamp and then doodle outlined the letter.
BTW, I found my new favorite stamping ink. It's the Faber-Castell Stamper' Big Brush Markers. THEY DON'T BLEED!!! They are India Ink so they are permanent. At the bottom of the page, you can see I added a heart. That's bleed through from the other side. I had used my India Ink stamp pad thinking it wouldn't bleed, but I was wrong. It seems that only the markers don't bleed. I'm totally fine with that since I have markers in so many different colors.
JOHN 2
I love how Jesus' first miracle shows that only HE can change a person's heart, even one that seems impossible. My favorite part is that it's the best and finest wine. Such a cool illustration of God's AMAZING LOVE and GRACE.I used my Faber-Castell Stamper's Big Brush markers to color the letters two-toned. I thought it would be a good reminder of the change from water to wine. I totally colored the "C" upside down, but I'm totally going with it and letting go of perfection! God knows I'm not perfect! That heart outline is the one that bled through to the other side, and I used the marker to draw the arrow that "turns around" and the red marker to color in the heart.
JOHN 3
I found it interesting that Jesus said "Truly Truly I say to you," three times. I often wonder how much I'm like Nicodemus and don't fully believe God when he's talking to me. John 3 shows such a huge contrast between the belief of John and the questioning of Nicodemus. I did the same thing with using/blending two colors of markers to stamp with and doodle outlining the letters.I also used another Heidi Swapp stencil and the cherry and primrose Color Shine sprays. My nozzle was clogged on the cherry bottle and totally did weird sprays, but I still really love how it turned out.
I added some stamping to the John 3:16 playing card tip-in to finish it off. This tip-in was one of my first ones I've ever added to my Bible and I'm so excited to finish it and make it feel like it belongs.
I'm so glad to be back someone in the swing of things. I'm hoping this weekend I can spend some time working ahead on my blog posts so I'm back on schedule. I can't wait to see where God is taking us this year!
