don't cry over spilled paint....

It started out with me spilling a bottle of expensive Golden brand gold paint on my kitchen island counter while working on my Project Life spread for last week... normally I would freak out and probably cry... but something told me to run and grab my December Daily album and start painting... I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the album, but I knew I wanted to do something to it... I LOVE the embossed stars on the bare chipboard, so I decided to start randomly painting some of them to use up the paint on my countertop. As you know, I'm really diggin' the chalkboard trend right now, so I grabbed some chalkboard tape by Freckled Fawn and added a strip... it was looking tooo much like Santa's pants, so I added a strip of glitter ribbon over the top... well, now I didn't like the red fabric anymore...

I couldn't decide between chalkboard paint, gold paint or white paint to cover up the red fabric... my girlfriend said, "chalkboard, definitely". I grabbed my brand new bottle of Martha Stewart chalkboard paint, and let's just say it was a good thing I bought the big bottle... looking back I should have somehow primed the area before using the chalkboard paint because it took 5 coats of paint before I couldn't see the red fabric anymore LOL... but now I'm thinking the glitter ribbon is too "blingy" and totally not "me"...

so I took the glitter ribbon off but needed something to cover the glue left behind... of course, why can't anything be easy LOL... so I found some pretty metallic tape by Martha Stewart and put that on the edge to cover up the glue... but I could now see the glue, so I had to put another layer of tape over the first layer... there... that's better... maybe I'll outline some of the stars with my gold gel pen to make them stand out a bit more... ooops, I smeared some all over and not it looks like a hot mess... why can't I just leave things alone? LOL... so I grabbed a lighter gold paint by Golden that I thought might be light enough to still see the darker gold already painted stars... nope... well, sorta, you can see them if you look really really closely and in a certain light... I basically just covered it all up with gold paint... now I don't like the tape with it... it's too "white"... let's see... Moriah's working on some schoolwork so I'll browse the Silhouette store for some vinyl word art... was thinking a nativity scene but then I found this one... it was perfect and totally why we take the month off of homeschooling to focus on advent and why Jesus became human... I then went through my rubons because I just can't leave empty space on my page anymore... I found leftover Tim Holtz rubons from the workshop I took while at Scrapfest... and some Pink Paislee gold and black rubons in my stash... I went to town piecing leftover words together and adding stars and arrows and a 2013 stamp by Elle's Studio... OK... I'm kinda diggin' this now, but it's still not quite "me"... it's missing something still, and I really don't like that white Martha Stewart tape... well, I really like the tape, but it doesn't quite fit on this album... I'll definitely have to find a different use for it somewhere else...

OH!!!! I know... after cleaning up all my paint mishaps, it's time to splatter on some paint... I grabbed some water and a bit of the chalkboard paint and the darker gold paint and start dropping some paint and flicking my brush on my finger... oh wait... I just found the perfect washi tape too... it has stars on it... ahhhh... now it's PERFECTLY IMPERFECT and totally "ME"... I'm in LOVE LOVE LOVE with it and can't wait to start filling it!!!
