I wanted to keep it pretty simple, so I created a 5.5"x8.5" album. I cut an 8.5"x11" piece of chipboard in half. I then glued scrapbook paper to both sides of the chipboard using matte medium. I distressed the edges using my Picket Fence Distress Paint Dauber. Lastly, I used the same template to punch the holes as I did in yesterday's tutorial for my December Album.
I then gathered scrapbook paper from my stash. I picked mostly black/white and gold papers and added the My Mind's Eye Mint Julep Collection for a bit of color.
I wasn't planning on using the chipboard sticker on the front of the album, but I loved it in the photoshoot last week and decided to commit to sticking it down. I also had this gold glitter cut out from last December and the wood veneer heart that I adhered with matte medium.
I wanted to distress the bright gold a bit on the rings, so I just dabbed on some Distress Paint on them and let them dry before adding them back on. I really love the matte-ness to them now.
I then took a 6'x8" scrapbook paper and punched holes on one side and glued on a gold/white stripe goodie bag. I kept the top part free so that I could fold it down and clip it to keep the calendar cards from falling out. Lastly, I added the big huge matching chipboard flowers to the front of the bag.
I used some old decorative scissors to cut the edge.
If I had been thinking, I would have cut the edge BEFORE I had adhered the bag. I would have had a much better cut.
I then used my hole puncher to punch holes in 13 sheets of white cardstock and added them to the album.
I plan on using the pages to do a little daily art worship, adhere the calendar card and journal about the devotional on it. With 13 pages, I'll have enough in there for one small art journal each day.
Here's the back cover: I thought this scrapbook paper was just too perfect for Christmas Day.
The back of the album matches the front, I'm really loving the black and white stripes!
