Art Journal: Soar

Let the {i}NSD festivities begin. Today I have a new art journal page with all sorts of goodies from Captivated Visions. I used ALL of her new releases on this art journal page. I even printed it out and just HAVE to share how awesome these pages look when they are printed on some yummy textured paper.

Here's a close-up photo:

Art Journal: A Little Birdie Told Me I Am Loved

I actually created this art journal page on Good Friday. Even though we were sick and weren't able to go to our church's Good Good Friday event or the Good Friday service in the evening, I still made sure the kids knew that they are loved so much that God sent his one and only son to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life. I sat down with each of them and talked to them for quite a bit about it and it was so nice to hear that they understand the importance of remembering this day. It was the first time that Isaac recited John 3:16 too and I was so very proud of him.

I love that I every time I ask them "Who loves you?", after saying "mama and daddy", they always say, "Jesus". I pray that they will always remember how much Jesus loves them. It's something I always have to remind myself too. The constant reminder of Good Friday and Easter makes this page so very special. I am so very blessed to be loved by God, my Abba Father.

Art Journal: I Choose Happy

Yes, yes I do! I sometimes really need to remind myself of this, actually pretty often. It's sad, but true. I am blessed beyond measure and I have the choice every day and every second how I want to live my day. Why I choose otherwise, I'm just not sure. I really need to print this and frame it and remind myself of this every single day, 24/7.

Art Journal: #Inspire

Once again, Rachel is in my head when she's designing. This has been my main focus for this blog and this page came together in like 15 minutes while Moriah was doing a writing assignment and the boys were picking up their room. I love when that happens and it happens so much with Rachel's designs. I'm so incredibly blessed to be a part of her team. It never feels like "work" to create with her designs.

An Act of True Love - Frozen Family Lesson

This past weekend we rented Frozen. We'd heard so many good things about the movie and Mark decided to be spontaneous and looked everywhere for the movie. We finally found a Redbox that had it and quickly reserved it and went to grab it.

One thing I've been really trying to do is to show the grace of God in our every day. So, after we watched the movie, I talked to them about how God's grace and love for us is far greater than the grace and love that Anna had for her sister, Elsa. I told them that Anna kept trying to build a snowman with Elsa, just like Jesus always wants a relationship with us and keeps coming every day.
I also shared that even though Elsa hurt Anna and kept pushing Anna away, but Anna kept coming back, just like we do things that hurt God and push him away, but his grace is so abundant that he keeps coming back and never gives up on us.
Lastly, I shared that just like Anna sacrificed her life for Elsa, Jesus did the same thing for us. As we get closer to Easter, I think a lot about his amazing sacrifice for me. That he loved me so much that he would die for me. I want my kids to know that amazing love and the amazing grace and mercy of Jesus. That because of his amazing grace and act of true love, we are free to live and to love.

Believe - Taking A Chance On Myself

This one also had to do with the blog and why I'm feeling called to a blogging ministry. It's been a ton of fun working on it and getting all my ideas down and writing. I've always had really low self-esteem when it comes to my art. I often question God a lot when I feel a calling from him. It sometimes takes years to take away the fear and anxiety of doing what he wants me to do. I remember asking God why he called us to homeschool. It took me 5 years to finally figure out why. For years I've had a love of helping my peers see things in a different light. I remember getting in trouble in math class when I would help my friends do a problem differently than what was instructed in the class. Of course, I was a goody two shoes kinda girl and started crying every time I got in trouble and then I'd get in more trouble. Again, another way of God preparing me to teach my own kids.

Dream - Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It

I will admit this page is totally about this blog. For quite awhile I'd been feeling like God was telling me he wanted me to do something with sharing my art and my passion for art journaling and how important I think it is for me. I used to fight it, but a dear friend had always told me to just write... just start writing. So I did, I started pouring my heart out onto my scrapbook pages. I started doing more than just a small note saying what I could clearly see was happening in the photo(s). I started really telling stories and writing letters to my children. This is when I started exploring art journaling. I found such freedom and joy in it. Sometimes it was to "let go" of bad feelings, and sometimes it was a pep talk to myself. Sometimes it's a prayer and a crying out to God. Sometimes it turns into worshiping God.

I will admit that the perfectionist in me and the mama who already has a mess to clean up after the kids tear the house apart, would rather sit down at my computer and play with digital art journaling. I do love the physical messy stuff too, don't get me wrong. Maybe it's because I feel like Rachel's always in my head when she designs something and it just becomes so easy to say what I need to say and her designs inspire me so much. I don't know, but I'm so blessed to be a part of her team and to call her "friend". I often think she's my twin sister from another mother. She just "gets" me. I love her dearly and wish we didn't live so far apart.

Today I Will... Let Go!

Surprise! I told you the next digital art journal page wasn't going to be using "focus", my One Little Word. I've been harboring some sad feelings lately. I'm sure I'm over-reacting but I was having some issues with comparison and disappointment. I had my small group pray for me and it really helped. It also helped to do this page. I should really print it up and add the words "LET GOD" to it and hang it up in my house. It's the perfect colors for my house and I really need the constant reminder to just lay it all on the alter and give it all to God. That's the only way I'm going to be free of all these icky feelings.

One Little Word - Focus 3

As you can see, I'm really trying to "focus" on my One Little Word this year. This is my third or forth art journal page using it as the title. Don't worry, my next art journal page doesn't, lol. I went a little crazy adding elements and brushes and all sorts of yummy goodies to my page. I can't wait to print this out and see what it looks like in my album though. I'm seriously loving the purple/orchid Pantone color of the year though. I've never been a fan of purple, but this year, I'm loving seeing it in all the yummy color schemes. I can't wait to see it used more this year in designs.

Normally, I go pretty flat with my element choices for art journal pages, so I was surprised that I used some 3D elements on the page. I do really like how it turned out though with the really small shadowing.
